Hyundai Ioniq 6, the realistic Visionxx
Hyundai in the recent past has steamrolled the premium EV car market with their Ioniq cars. The Ioniq 6 takes this approach a step further, almost looking like the Mercedes Benz Visionxx.
Hyundai lured Albert Biermann from BMW skunkworks and have not looked back ever since. Hyundai has been churning out desirable models starting with their Genesis line up and inching closer into the premium segment. Soon Kia would hold the baton for the more exciting versions of Hyundai and they stunned the world with the very exciting Stinger. So Hyundai has definitely sorted out the performance image at its brand. Premium, no so much. Atleast not with the petrol version offerings. The Genesis cars are very well made but buyers still have an hesitation when considering a premium segment car.
Until they introduced the Ioniq 5. The affordable EV which gave Tesla and other established EV manufacturers a run for their money. It is a very well thought out car. The looks are simple and sublime at the same time. You not mind being spotted in one, at all. The interior is well put. The quality is upto the mark. The tech is plenty, and has a very Apple feel about it. Which is a big check for tech. The user interface is very intuitive and provides you with all the information you need as a driver.
The Kia EV6 takes the Ioniq 5 to the sportier edge. It does have slightly better feel to it. Car enthusiast or not, EV enthusiast or a environment do gooder, celebrity or one of us, will gladly get hands on one of these models. Seems like Hyundai hit it out of the park with their EV cars. And then they pushed the envelope more.
Hyundai has invested a lot of time on the EV development program. They have hired some very good leaders and people in general to make strides in their program. And it shows in their latest offering. The Ioniq6. It is very radical and maybe not to everyone’s taste. But this is how future cars will look if they want to cheat the air friction. There is a reason, the Mercedes Visionxx looks similar. This is the look needed to get those sub .2 drag coefficients. Tesla pushed EV cars towards the performance spectrum, challenging the likes of super cars and hyper cars, it is refreshing to see car manufacturers like Mercedes Benz and Hyundai investing in extending ranges while keeping the ride quality as a priority. Few years ago we would have not thought we would see the likes of Mercedes and Hyundai mentioned in the same sentence leave alone the same car segment. Good job Hyundai!
